Convenience 3.0 takes government on-the-go
eGov Strategies today announces the availability of the first comprehensive iPhone solution for local governments with the launch of two new city applications in the iTunes store, the Town of Fishers, Indiana and the City of Huntsville, Texas.

Introducing mobile accessibility which leapfrogs current mobile offerings available from local governments the application supplies a comprehensive interface to government information and services built specifically for iPhone users. The technology is powered by LaViaz, Inc. of Indianapolis and leverages their experience in building iPhone solutions and eGov Strategies' advanced "smart architecture" for e-government.

On-the-go Interface Helps Constituents
"This solution takes all of the content and services that we're actively managing on our website, and social media like Facebook and Twitter and makes it available to mobiles users with no effort beyond downloading the app from the iTunes Store. Free to the public, not only can our constituents take photos of potholes and report them through their iPhone, but they can find out about upcoming public meetings, get maps to city departments and look up the phone number for a key city service all from the easy-to-use eGov Mobile interface," Chris Vasquez, IT Manager, City of Huntsville, Texas.

Connect Constituents
Connecting government with constituents in as many ways as possible was one of the primary goals of city officials - and the reason they liked the eGov Strategies/LaViaz Mobile approach.

"Our town's iPhone app goes way beyond a simple reporting system. The eGov Mobile app enables constituents to better connect with Council Members and Department Officials - to get more involved with local government from the convenience of their mobile phone. With the eGov Mobile App, residents can access news and alerts, public meeting information and contact information for all of our town officials and departments," states Sarah Rittman, Public Relations & Communications Director, Town of Fishers, Indiana. "The mobile applications if feed directly from our Town website and includes more than 15 different forms which our constituents use for reporting online. For handling the issues, the form results go directly into our constituent tracking system for immediate processing by the responsible department official."

Mobile Application Features
Taking convenience for constituents to a new level the mobile application currently provides:

  • Government - department information, descriptions, maps (can get you there from where ever you are), phone, fax and more.
  • Public meetings - today, 7 days and 30 days out with all the details.
  • News -straight from the city.

Smart Architecture Creates Opportunity
"Once we saw how eGov Strategies architects their web service line from the back-end, we realized what a natural fit this was for an iPhone application," states Ron Blaisdell, President of mobile application development company LaViaz.

eGov Strategies understands government and how e-government online services need to be structured. LaViaz iPhone experience combined with the expertise of eGov Strategies created the synergy for a comprehensive solution to users once again helping communities like Fishers, Indiana and Huntsville, Texas to set the pace with technology in 2010.
